EMA 469 Design Competition

Winners of the 2010 EMA Senior Design contest are the following. If you missed the presentations, please see the Archived Video. We would like to recognize all participants for their substantial efforts this semester. We would also like to thank all contributors.

Honorable Mention- $500

Judges awarded "Honorable Mention" to he MAX Pallet Jack, a pallet jack that allows users to move pallets with greater mobility while keeping the functionality of a traditional pallet jack. Users can move a pallet laterally, rotate it, or move it like a traditional pallet jack. Designed by: Nathan Wong, Paul Pezzi, Jamin Seippel, Joseph Elmquist, and Zach Cheplak

Second Place- $1000

Judges awarded the $1000 Second Prize to Mowercycle, a pedal-powered riding lawnmower. Mowercycle is completely human powered, eliminating the cost and environmental impact of fuel, while maintaining the speed benefits of a traditional riding lawnmower. Designed by: Derek Becker, Collin Bezrouk, Tyler Van Fossen, Dan Rohe, and Max Stein

First Place- $2500

Judges chose SAW Wheel, a wheelchair attachment that provides an increase in traction on snow or ice, for the $2500 First Prize. SAW Wheel uses an expandable second wheel with an aggressive tread an inlaid studs to provide this traction. Designed by: Nathan Cholewa, Jamie Hood, Craig Bolyard, Jameel Moore, Kevin Weiss

People's Choice

Taking almost 400 votes into account, the winner of the People's Choice award is team SAW Wheel.
